Toronto Caregivers Pull Down The Curtain For Beauty Pageants Running 11 Years

Beauty Pageants are akin to Filipino culture. For Filcore, it is a platform to develop foreign workers under the Live-In Caregiver Program, mentor them and give them empowerment. The Caregivers Pageant gives participating contestants a boost of confidence.
But as it is said, "There is nothing permanent in this world than change" Filcore ended this yearly undertaking, perhaps to usher new avenues for Caregivers and women seeking self enrichment. this year is the last.
Liezel Malicay, a very demure lady who won the title and crown at last year's Miss Caregiver 2016 fulfilled a childhood dream; to be able to do a farewell walk one day and hear her own voice recorded in the background. Filcore fulfilled that childhood dream and handed her the title as Miss Caregiver 2016 last year.
Imagine how long we started dreaming...they started in our formative years and then we all travel without expecting those dreams to materialize. Liezel Malicay did not just realize a dream, it also gives her the opportunity to share her blessings by contributing to Filcore's mission. Here below is the excerpt of her farewell speech recorded as her dreams demands;
Last year July 17, 2016, I have been honored to wear this symbolic crown that represents a piece of beauty from the hearts of every caregiver who are working out there to bring happiness to families who need their support.
Leaving my position at this moment in time is not a matter of choice, but it is the time to step down to congratulate the winner and wish her all the best and encourage her to value the great experience that is filled with enjoyment and responsibilities as well. In my journey as the crowned Miss caregiver 2016, I gained alot of things which I will forever cherish in my heart. I met many new friends, had a chance to participate in various community events- concerts, fund raising , info sessions– in which it correlates with my platform “be alert to give service to anyone in need”. In addition to these remarkable experiences, I was being given the chance to be part in the filming industry produced by our very own Filcore founder ms Judith Gonzales and not only that, I got a chance to appear in Hollywood Film! I would like to take this moment to thank once again the Filcore founder –Ms Judith for giving me this opportunity to be part of this noble event. To the Chairman-Ms Margie for the utmost support , Miss Merecyl, the very energetic handler of 2016 Candidates To the current Chairman- Ms Christine, for her valuable support and motivation to the rest of the filcore officers and members, friends, family and my co-candidates, thank you. As well as To the Board of judges who've seen and believe my potentials that very night. Above all, to our God Almighty for all the blessings, guidance and for making these things possible. I hope that I have succeeded to serve as an epitome in the eyes of whom I represent. To the winner tonight, Please put the crown in ur heart. and congratulations. The journey of Miss Caregiver for 11 years may have ended, but the spirit of compassion and constant self- developments, Filcore will never lose its track to continue mentoring Caregivers in another platforms and avenues. No good deeds will end without a new endeavour sprouting in their midst.
