Pres. DUTERTE: Why Don't We Look At The Bigger Picture?

Internet photo: Pres. Duterte

The most recent debacle that Pres. Duterte is facing are the deaths of more than a dozen people in Ozamiz City during the raid of a family with long history of criminal involvements. It is documented. It is a family business; drugs, kidnappings, robberies.

People are lost and confused but should they? Nobody wants to see someone being murdered. No one wants killings. We all wanted dignity in our selves. But did these criminals ever thought of the damaged they have done to society? How do we favour something or someone?

People had a choice which way to go in life. But there are those who neglected the sanctity of life as they go on rampage for power and money at the expense of innocent people. The drug lords who are holding key positions in the government has been there for ages. How much damaged they have already inflicted to the Filipino people?

All these things became apparent and clear that such humungous problems exists when Duterte
became president. Before him. what happened? Everyone with power dominated their own territory like plagues. No one protested because everyone thought those were part of a normal society.

Then came this man whom I guarantee that my father will slap at the dinner table. I don't like his foul languages and his deep, odd metaphors of rapes and other antics irrelevant in today's decent society. But his leadership is unquestionable. What happens when this man is the only man to stand amidst the tremendous damage left behind by inadequate leaders whose only agenda was to enrich themselves and cheat people of tax monies?

My father definitely will not share a dish with this man. But president Duterte is the only saviour this country could ever have. I believe in destiny. I believe that he is being put there for a reason. Why am I convinced that life is pre- ordained? Because even Jesus cannot get away what was destined for him; the crucifixion on the cross. Meaning, we follow the routes of life carved for us.

People must now look at the bigger picture instead of crying out loud for every person killed on police operations. Let us not blame the man although he ordered to shoot those who resisted arrests. Duterte is still barking an order required in line with police protocols; a policeman's life is more valuable than the thugs pulling the trigger on them. It could be a sad fact that a criminal's life is diminished by his deeds. But Duterte is fighting the many evils deeply rooted and are hard to contain. But despite that, this president has shown unwavering courage and resolve so that the rule of law will prevail.

It is a tragedy that there are deaths in restoring a decent society. It is a tragedy to lose a family member who travelled the wrong path in life. In our judgments, we always look at the good ones, the welfare of people who abide the laws. The Philippines is so broken before Duterte as we can see the tons of drugs smuggled and caught by the billions.

How would a normal person justify and think that the culprits in the demise of a beautiful country still deserve the same treatments as the ones who followed the rules? What about the family murdered and stabbed repeatedly more worse than a pig slaughtered for festivities? There is a line between good and evil. One has to pick. That is where compassion lies.

People should not overlooked the processes Duterte is trying to build for its citizens. I bet he has done already more than his predecessors. The fact that his ratings  showed tremendous support from his countrymen. THIS MAN IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK DESPITE HIS MANY SHORTCOMINGS AS A PERSON. There is no way a broken society can be restored by offering mercy to the ones who destroyed it.

President Duterte is fighting his battle at all fronts. There are bad elements at every sector in the government. But the thing is he is maneuvering the country and making decisions according to what he believes in. We do not want people to die. And in order to minimize the casualties on the war on drugs, the community must help. If there is a right time to come together...is now. Something the Philippine president so badly needed.
