Liza Silagan's Voice Pummeled The Hearts Inside The Premiere of Mangarap Ka Films
The singer and the Lyricist of the song "Dream"... |
First, let me thank my wonderful friends, Fay Graves of the Leonard Annual Memorial Fundraiser and Prez (Bayanihan Club of Simcoe County) Mely Titus for giving their personal support to Judith Gonzales first theatre film Premiere at Toronto Centre for the Arts this afternoon. Also, to my friend Amy Basingan for taking two friends for the showing.
The theatre was nice and classy. The filmmaker, Judith Gonzales, was greeting the guests as they trickled in. All major casts graced the showing of the first Fil-Canadian made films, Mangarap Ka. As soon as the lights dimmed, the setting showed one of Ontario's familiar landscapes of trees at whose grounds carpeted by fallen leaves and the white sands of the beach.
The story is what we all can relate into as immigrants and the fight to stay in Canada. Stories that at times become heartbreaking. It's a true story of Kivan and Tina whose love blossomed even if their status in Canada were still shaky. The love affair that ended in marriage and then ended up being torn apart by immigration laws of Canada.
Goodbyes are utterly hard even on the big screen. But what made that particular scene so heavy in our hearts was the soundtrack that came full blast where singer Liza Silagan's voice bounces beautifully inside the theatre like a cruel punch of a violent thief that snatches a dying heart. The song "Dream" made the parting the more unbearable.
"Dream" which was intricately translated by Chyrell Samson from my own lyrics originally written in Tagalog where the melody was brilliantly crafted and produced by Rodney Ronquillo. The song speaks of hopes and dreams, of failures and successes. The melody is so great it felt like listening to a song only David Foster is known for. Rodney Ronquillo, a multi- faceted musician nailed the score. The song is copyrighted by Li ERON and used as a soundtrack of Judith Gonzales' Mangarap Ka films.
Those who watched the film sit silently listening to the voice of Liza Silagan. Let me give you the opportunity to listen to it. You can also download it from here: Dream-Liza Silagan or watch the official music video (filmed at Niagara Falls and areas by Vladimir Reyes) of the song below:
